Christian Family Law Association

Christian Family Law Association, Inc. is a nonprofit corporation that was incorporated under North Carolina law on June 25, 2009. Pursuant to its bylaws, the property, ministry, and other matters related to the corporation are managed under the direction of the duly elected and voluntary board of directors.

The  Christian Family Law Association board of directors, will be comprised of up to 15 members, including the 4 officers of the corporation, who will serve staggered three-year terms. Officers will serve terms of two years in each officer position, after which they must rotate off the board for at least one year. Provisions are made in the bylaws for regular introduction of new members to serve on the board. Board members are nominated by the board's nominating committee and elected by the corporation's attorney members.

 Corporate officers include a president,vice-president, secretary, and treasurer. All officers serve as ex officio members of the board of directors in addition to its 11 regular members and have full voting rights as director members of the board. The president also serves at the chief executive officer of the corporation. Officers of the corporation are elected by the board of directors.

The board of directors has an executive committee with full power to act on behalf of the full board in between the annual meetings of the board. The board also has several standing and special committees. The six standing committees including one standing committee each of the four major ministry areas, which are: Education, Evangelism, Discipleship, and Missions. In addition, the board may include Finance and Nominating Commitees that meet with less regularity than the other active committees. Committees may include individuals other than board members. Committee members are appointed by resolution of the board of directors. Board members are eligible to serve on more than one committee at a time.

Attorney members and student members may form local attorney chapters and student chapters of the Christian Family Law Association.

Individuals who are not attorneys, law students, or legal service providers are welcomed as associate members to participate in the affairs of the corporation. Associate members may serve on board committees, are invited to attend the corporation's annual meetings, educational seminars, retreats, etc. Associate members may not serve as officers, directors, or voting members.
